MEAT LOCKER

Meat Locker is a free iPhone app for photographs of meat as food. Brisket at 3am, a pork shoulder twelve hours on the bullet, a butcher’s case, charcuterie, the plate in front of you. If you cooked it, cured it, sliced it or bought it, it belongs here. Every photograph is reviewed by a person before anyone sees it. That is the whole app.

You sign in with Apple or Google, post your photographs, tag what it was and how it was cooked, and browse what everybody else is eating. There is nothing to buy and no advertising.

What makes it different

Every photograph is reviewed by a person before anyone sees it. Not a filter, not a score — somebody looks. Food only: raw, cured, cooked, on the grill or on the plate. No live animals, no hunting or slaughter photographs, nothing gratuitous.

It means posts take a few minutes to appear. That is the trade, and it is the point.

How it works

• Sign in with Apple or Google. No password to invent, forget or have stolen.
• Post up to seven photographs to a cook, in the order it happened.
• Tag what it was — the cut, the seasoning, how it was cooked — from a fixed list, so browsing actually works.
• Show your locker: the smoker, the kettle, the griddle, whatever you run.
