Common things

My post has not appeared

Every photograph is reviewed by a person before it goes live, so there is a wait. If it has been more than a day, write to us with your username.

My post was turned away

You will see the reason on the post. The usual one is that the photograph was not of food — a live animal, or a hunting or slaughter photograph. If you think that was wrong, write to us and we will look again.

My account is suspended

Open the app and you will see why, in the account's own words rather than a code. Your posts and comments are hidden while it lasts — nothing is deleted, and everything comes back exactly as it was if the suspension is lifted. Three posts or comments turned away suspends an account automatically, and a moderator can suspend one sooner.

You can argue with it. There is an Appeal this suspension button on that screen which writes most of the email for you, including your username and the reason given; add what you think happened and send it. Or write to matt@thegadgetaid.com from the address on your account, saying which username it is and what you would like looked at again. A person reads every appeal — the same person who made the decision — and sometimes that person is wrong.

I want to report something

Every post, comment and profile can be reported from inside the app. A person reviews every report, usually within a day. You can also block any account, which takes effect immediately.

I want to delete my account

Settings, then Delete my account. Your profile, posts, photographs, comments, likes and follows are permanently deleted. If you cannot get into the app, write to us from the address on your account and we will do it.

I am not getting notifications

Tap the bell on your own profile — comments, somebody tagging you with an @, new followers and posts going live each have their own switch. Settings points at the same screen. If they are all on, check Meat Locker in the iOS Settings app, where notifications can be switched off for the whole app.

I want to change my username

Settings, then your profile, then Edit. You can change it once every 30 days, and a username you give up is held for 90 days before anyone else can take it, so nobody can use it to pretend to be you.

Anything else. matt@thegadgetaid.com. We read everything.
